Chore-Time 52-Inch TURBO® Fan
with HYFLO® Shutter Receives
AE50 Innovation Award from Ag Engineers

MILFORD, Indiana U.S.A. – Chore-Time’s 52-inch (132-cm) diameter TURBO® Fan with HYFLO® Shutter has been selected as an AE50 Outstanding Innovations Award winner for 2006. The award is sponsored by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers’ Resource magazine and recognizes the top 50 innovations in agriculture produced during 2005 that help to improve and enhance agricultural, biological, food and related industries.

Chore-Time Egg Production Systems, a division of CTB, Inc., developed the corrosion-resistant fiberglass fan model with a fiberglass HYFLO® Shutter for greater air moving efficiency. The new product reflects CTB’s corporate vision for Leadership Through Innovation®. The fan’s high air-moving capacity means poultry and livestock producers need fewer fans in a house while generating a certain air speed or volume of air moved per animal.

Consisting of only two moving parts for greater reliability, the HYFLO Shutter’s fiberglass doors are pushed open as air is exhausted when the fan operates. The shutter’s unique springs draw the doors closed when the fan is not operating. The fan’s air speed is maintained over time since the doors tend to stay cleaner. Any dirt that would happen to stick to the shutter doors has little, if any, effect on the door’s performance unlike the typical 12 to 15 percent loss of efficiency and air speed typical of dirty louver-style shutters.

When closed, the HYFLO Shutter’s design has 75 percent less opportunity for light and cold air to leak through and delivers up to 10 percent more air flow than conventional louver shutters. Plus, with no louvers to clean, the HYFLO Shutter’s simple design greatly reduces fan-cleaning chores.

Chore-Time’s TURBO Fan features a compressible, one-piece cone that allows the fans to be placed side-by-side in a fan bank with fans installed 60 inches (152-cm) on center. The white fan is available with an optional black inside and/or an optional black discharge cone for light reduction.

The unique Chore-Time combination of 52-inch (132-cm) diameter TURBO Fan with the fiberglass HYFLO Shutter (patents pending) is shipped fully assembled including the shutter doors, fiberglass housing, stainless steel structural components and cast aluminum blade. At installation, the fan simply attaches to the house sidewall, the one-piece cone is added and the protective grill snaps in place. The discharge cone helps to protect the shutter from wind gusts.
